We Remember
HALL, Donald William Henry “Buster”
October 22, 1921 — September 24, 2017
Donald William Henry “Buster” Hall passed away quietly in his spot by the window at home on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Buster was born in Kelowna to Jessie and George Hall. He spent his life in Okanagan Mission and was dedicated to his family, his God and his community.
After high school and Sea Cadets, Buster enlisted in the Navy where he spent 7 years serving his country. Many remember Buster from his days operating the OK Mission Stage Lines bus company. He loved to hike, garden, sail and canoe when he wasn’t playing cricket, tennis, badminton or golf. He could always be counted on to fix the church bell, light the furnace at the church or school, or whatever else needed to be done.
Buster will be forever remembered and cherished by his loving family, wife of almost 67 years, Lois; daughter Susan (Bill) Van Noortwyk; sons George Hall and Edward “Ted” (Emelia) Hall; grandchildren Lindsay (Dan) Erb, Kristin (Jim) Stewart, Jessica (Brent) Markus, Mike (Kelli) Hall, Robyn Hall (Kelson Willms), Jannelle Hall and Kelsey Hall; great-granchildren Grady and Meliya Stewart, Olivia and Mya Markus, Shayla, Brandon and Connor Hall; numerous nieces and nephews on the coast; as well as God-family Barbara Farris, Judy (Ken) Johnson, Blake, Melanie (Graham) Odlum, and Penny and Oscar.
At Dad’s request, there will be a private service and interment at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church and Cemetery.

Many, many times Buster drove my Gramma ( known as Ivy), Martha Ivens and I to town.
Back in 1948 that was exciting, and Buster was so kind and would wait as we scurred along to catch the bus. We shopped at Halls store too. We are sad for you each of you to lose a dear family member….Penny and the Ivens family.
Our thoughts are with you. We were born and raised in Kelowna, me living in the north end, Brian in the Mission. I (Hilary) owed Buster a lot of money in the late 50’s, early 60’s, as he let me on the bus to go to school, and I rarely had the small amount of change, to pay my fare. He was always quiet and kind and would always say “mind your step”. We remember the different way he handled the stick shift, kind of a flowing gesture. We remember the wool hat he wore in the winter. What a fine man and what a good memory we have of Buster. Sincerely, Brian and Hilary Maranda
I read of your father’s passing and that brought many memories for me. I was a frequent passenger on the OK Mission Bus when Don was driving. I would be picked up on Lakeshore and Truswell Rd and taken to the Old OK Mission school that was later burnt down and I use to have a hot lunch at the house behind Hall Bros store while in school–that was provided by Mrs. Hall ,I believe. I have ford memories of those days and my rides on the “BUS” -my sincere condolences to your family but pleasant memories live on forever. Kindest Regards Bud Truswell
