We Remember
HALL, Thomas “Jim”
—
It is with immense love and heartbreak that we announce the loss of Jim Hall, who passed away on July 22, 2026, at the age of 66.
Jim is lovingly survived by his best friend and wife of 35 years, Jazden; their beloved Afghan Hounds, Brando, Zoe, Tesah, and Hauken; and a large group of dear friends. He now goes to join his parents, Bob and Jeanne, who passed before him.
Jim was born in Kelowna, British Columbia, the oldest of three boys, and he spent the majority of his youth in Salmon Arm, BC. He was especially close with his mom, Jeanne, and that bond remained one of the most important relationships in his life. From a young age, Jim was curious about the world and always looking for his next adventure.
Flying was his first passion, and he loved his career as a pilot. When cataracts forced him to leave the cockpit, it was a difficult change, but Jim did what he always did – he found a new path forward. Broadcasting became his second career, and it suited him perfectly. Listeners in Red Deer, AB came to know him on BIG105 and 106.7 The Drive Radio, where he wasn’t just an on-air personality but also the program director of both stations. He loved connecting with people, encouraging his team, and being part of a community that felt like family.
If you asked the people who knew Jim best to describe him, you’d hear the same words again and again: adventurous, loyal, dependable, and fun. He had a way of making people feel comfortable, and there was always laughter when he was around. Jim never stopped wanting to learn. Whether it was taking on a new challenge or picking up a new skill, he believed life was meant to be lived with curiosity. Most recently, he had been learning French so he could speak it with his wife, Jaz – a gift of love that was so unmistakably Jim.
He loved being outside, whether he was waterskiing in the summer or out on his mountain bike. He also had a style all his own. He always dressed well, and you could count on him to be wearing a pair of fun, interesting socks. Bright orange was his favourite colour, and if you knew Jim, you probably weren’t surprised to see it show up somewhere – especially in the bright orange leather interior of his beloved 2003 silver Nissan 350Z. Every time Jim thought of replacing his sports car with something new, he just couldn’t part with his 350Z.
Jim had an enormous soft spot for dogs. He simply couldn’t walk past one without stopping to say hello. It didn’t matter where he was or if he was in a hurry, every dog deserved a greeting, and every dog owner probably left smiling after meeting him.
Jim made life brighter for the people around him. He leaves behind so many stories, so much laughter, and so many memories that will be treasured forever. His absence leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family, his friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be missed more than words can ever express, but he will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Jim’s honour to Paws It Forward Dog Rescue.

Absolutely shocked and saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He hired me in Red Deer in 2000 and I was honoured to partly succeed him when he retired in 2012. Deepest condolences to Jaz and his family.
My deepest condolences to Jaz, I was Jim’s wingman in our online flight sim for last year five years now, and we even met this February in Vancouver for a virtual pilots get together. Please reach out to me and I will come to Kelowna.
My deepest condolences to Jaz and the family. I’m am one of his virtual wingmen from our simulation flight hobby group. Some of his friends might not know this, but he was one of the coolest cats in the group. His calming demeanor and friendly presence was one of the reasons many of us would show up for various virtual flights/events.
I have had the pleasure to meet him in person earlier this year in Vancouver. Our hobby group has had a fantastic time there. I met him when he landed. He showed up rocking a leather jacket. My words, quote: “You are even cooler in person, look at that jacket!”.

So sorry for your loss. I knew Jim from our online flying. I too am a pilot in real life. Jim was very skilled and patient during our training sessions. He will be missed!
i am deeply sorry for your loss. he very nice calm gentleman. always nice talk with. i was a member of his flying Sim Group. Thinking of you and wishing you peace and comfort
I’ve spent many hours flying online with Jim. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and just a cool guy all around. Hanging out with Jim was always a pleasurable experience. I am deeply disheartened by the loss of my friend.
I first met Jim in 2012 at Sunset Ranch Waterski, just outside of Sacramento. Turns out we were both from Kelowna. So began our mutual quest for the perfect pass on the water, and the search for the best fish & chips. I’ll miss our time on the water and our conversations over coffee.
Jaz – Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your “hounds”. The dog walks we shared with you and your dogs when we were neighbours were always a wonderful experience, and the mornings I spent with Jim out on the water were always such a great way to start the day. Everyone who had the good fortune to know Jim are truly blessed.
Heartfelt Condolences.
Brad & Sandra
I offer my sincere condolences.
Vi porgo le mie più sentite condoglianze.
It was always a pleasure talking to Jim. Because of the time zone difference it wasn’t very often, but it was always a good time. From playing to just chatting about all sorts of things. I feel lucky to have met Jim, He will be missed.
I wish You all the best.
I only met Jim virtually in the sim flying community, but he left a real impact over the years. He was always such a clever, funny, upbeat, and humble person. I’m heartbroken for his loved ones.
I have no words to express my sadness and shock of the passing on my long time friend. Jim was a kind, gentle and thoughtful person. My most sincere condolences to Jaz and the entire family🙏🏻 He touched so many people and will be deeply missed.
