We Remember

HALLETT, Robert “Fred”

June 7, 1937 — September 17, 2023

With fond memories and a deep love, we regret we have to say good by to Fred Hallett (86) who peacefully departed this earth on September 17, 2023, at the Kelowna General Hospital. Born and raised in St. Catherines, ON, Fred had a sociable nature, and often choose to spend his time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 28 years, Dianne. His legacy continues on through his son, Cameron; his grandchildren: Desi (Nathaniel), Justine (Jeff), and Devon; and his nine great-grandchildren: Justin, Sheraih, Kaidan, Jake, Nathan, Emily, Bethany, Declan, and Spencer. Sadly, he lost his daughter Camie; his first wife, Kathryn; and his father, William, and his mother, Gladys.

Dedicated to work, Fred was a Dispatcher with Canada Post until his retirement. Fred also served as the president of the Postal Workers’ Club. When not at work, he would relax in front of the television, he had a fondness for Western movies, in particular ones with John Wayne in them. Fred was a Toronto Blue Jays fan, and loved watching their games. During time off, he would venture into the wild to go camping and fishing. Later in life he liked to travel down to the United States, go on bus tours, or (when he could) go for walks.

Fred’s unique and genuine personality made him truly special just as he was.

Fred’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dianne’s “sister” and “brother”, as well as cherished friends, who provided invaluable support and comfort during some of Fred’s most challenging moments.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help those who struggle with dementia would be appreciated, one option is the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

A Memorial Service to honour Fred will be held on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2023, at 4:00 PM, at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.

    Dear Diane , Desiree & Nat and the rest of the family,
    I am sadden and sorry to hear of Fred’s passing. My thoughts and prayer are with you at this time. As generic as this sounds it does not fit the emotions of loss and grief people feel at times like these. It is just one breath at a time ,that makes a minute to an hour completing a day… and then throw in a crazy day and laugh. We have our memories and love to go forward. Love to you all❤️❤️❤️
