We Remember

HAMMER, Olof (O.B.)

March 29, 1937 — November 27, 2019

Olof died peacefully surrounded by many of his loved ones. He leaves behind his son Terry (Alexandra) and grandchildren Daniel (Brianna) and Katherine all from Kelowna; daughter Beverley of Kelowna and granddaughters Brianne and Lisa (Rigel) of Toronto; daughter Joanne (George) and granddaughter Jessica all from Summerland; daughter Connie (Trevor) and grandchildren Cameron, Morgan, and Zoey all from Kelowna; Lynn from Victoria and his dog Poppy who comforted and amused him. He is also survived by his brother Blain (Em) and nieces and nephews in B.C., Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. He was predeceased by parents Ron and Greta, as well as siblings Gary and Hazel.

O.B. was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan being the 3rd of 4 children. He remembered his time in Saskatchewan fondly and we heard many stories of his ambitious youth.

Never without a measuring tape, he built and renovated several homes in Kelowna and Saskatchewan. O.B. was extremely hard working, and his legacy will be on the landscape of this city for decades to come. He was very proud of being able to name some of the streets of Kelowna after his friends and himself – Hammer Avenue being a favourite.

We would like to thank Dr. Stone, all of the caring staff at Lakeview Lodge, and his dear friend Mike.
Donations to the Kidney Foundation of BC, would continue to honour his life and help others. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.
