We Remember
HARDER, Walter
March 5, 1939 — August 9, 2026
Walt Harder passed away on August 9, 2026, at Kelowna General Hospital, at the age of 87. As a follower of Jesus Christ, Walt knew with confidence that his last breath on earth was his first breath in heaven.
The second child of seven, Walt was born on March 5, 1939, in Horndean, MB, to the late Diedrich & Susie Harder. Walt was predeceased by his 23-year-old grandson, Jordan Thiessen. He leaves behind his wife and sweetheart, Norma. They celebrated their 65th Anniversary on June 3, 2026. Walt’s daughter Nancy, daughter Shirley and husband, Carey, granddaughter Chantel, her husband Addison, and great-grandsons, Jameson and Beckham, also greatly miss their father and grandfather.
Walt spent most of his growing-up years on a farm in Ridgeville, MB. He developed a strong work ethic at a young age and decided early on to be a man of integrity. Despite physical difficulties, Walt retained his positive attitude and commitment to place his trust in God. Prayer was a natural conversation with God that Walt did every day.
In a variety of industries, Walt became a winsome salesman. He made lifelong friends with many of his clients.
Generosity was a high value of Walt’s. He readily shared his time, wisdom, and hard-earned money with others.
Walt was dedicated to his family and friends. They could always count on him expressing his love in a variety of ways.
Recently, Walt purchased 500 lbs of blueberries: some to keep, some to sell, and some to give away. Walt loved blueberries and thought everyone else should love them as much as he did.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a charity close to Walt’s heart: CornerBend Grief Ministries.
