We Remember

HARPER, Gladys ” Bonnie”

December 21, 1926 — February 3, 2023

Sadly, we announce the passing of Gladys Harper. She was born on December 21, 1926, and died on February 3, 2023. She follows her dear husband, Gordon Harper, and their son, Darrell, as well as her daughter-in-law, Lena. May they all be together again. Those who remain and cherish the memories of Gladys include her son David (who lost Lena); her daughter-in-law, Janice (Darrell’s widow); and her son Randy and daughter-in-law Sharon; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Megan, and Brent; and her great-grandchild Ellis.

Gladys immigrated to Canada in 1946. Gladys raised her family in Vancouver, BC, and she retired to Mayne Island, BC for a number of years. Lastly, she settled in Kelowna, BC in the early 2000s. Gladys was an avid walker to the end, always on the move. She enjoyed the arts, theatre, movies, Coronation Street, and especially music. Some of her favourite artists were André Rieu, Leonard Cohen, Andrea Bocelli, Freddie Mercury, Sarah Brightman and many more.

Gladys was a traveller and went to many places. Highlights include Hong Kong, Australia, Fiji; the USA, and her beloved England & Scotland. A Royalist at heart, Gladys loved the Queen and Royal Family. Gladys was also a “dog person”, enjoying the many dogs who joined our family over the years: Puji, Leopold, Zena, Jack, Bruno, Soul, Maia, McGill, Charlie, Stella, and Frankie, to name a few.

Special thanks to the Mission Creek Landing staff for their incredible care over the years. Also, a special mention to Dr. Dean Griswold (retired) for his kind and dedicated attention.

Family and friends will honour her, each in their own way; no formal service will be held.
