We Remember
HARRIS, William
August 30, 1932 — April 13, 2020
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our father, William Harris, on Monday, April 13, 2020 at the age of 87.
William, better known as Bill or “Wolfman” was the Harris family Patriarch. He had a larger than life presence and a true gift of the gab. Bill would strike up a conversation with all people he encountered and always had a good story to share. He had great wit and a quirky sense of humor and a pocket full of entertaining wisdom. These traits of Bill’s are forever etched in his family’s hearts.
If there was one thing Bill lived for, it was his love for fishing and being down at the river with his sons and grandsons. Bill spent hours every day tending to his fishing nets and checking on his boat, Driftin Free. His passion was embedded in him from a very young age and floating out on the Fraser River and salmon fishing was Bills ultimate desire.
Bill loved to be active and kept himself very busy tending to his beautiful home and yard. He could always be found up a ladder trimming a cedar bush or in the back of the property pruning blackberry bushes or tending to his pool or mole holes in his beloved lawn.
Bill enjoyed decades travelling to Maui with his true love and wife, Leonora. They were often joined by family members and friends and they always welcomed everyone into their homes.
The passing of Bill has been such a sad time, but his family will forever remember everything about him. Bill had the biggest smile when all of his family was together. All of his children and grandchildren have memories to last them always as his legacy will live on in all of them.
Bill was predeceased by his Wife Leonora Harris; his parents Nellie and Charlie Halishoff; and his brother Walter.
Bill is survived by his four children Brad (Gail), Karen (Doug), Brian (Rose) and Barry; his seven grandchildren Joanna (Ben), Corey (Jinessa), Bobbi (Matt), Robbie (Carmin), Michelle (Colton), Amanda and Mitchell; his five great-grandchildren Ava, Savannah, Slade, Wyatt and Blake; along with many of his many lifelong friends.
No funeral will be held but a private family gathering will be planned for a later date. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.
