We Remember

HARROP, Dorothy Dianne
August 13, 1941 — October 11, 2024
Dorothy Dianne Harrop, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly from a life-ending stroke at the age of 83.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edwin Harrop; children, Elizabeth Miller (Scott) and Jeffery Harrop (Janice); and grandchildren, Katelan Miller and Ciara & Logan Harrop. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and James Irwin.
Born and raised on a farm in Dundalk, Ontario, Dianne began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse, where she made a lasting impact on her students. Later, she went back to school to explore her interest in accounting and love of numbers. She later transitioned into a career in retail, demonstrating her versatility and adaptability.
As a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Dianne deeply valued her family and was actively involved in her community.
She will be remembered with great affection and love.

Denis and I lived next door to Diane and Ned when we first moved here. We had several lovely meals together and Dianne was a welcoming new friend to me. I admired her so much for her self sufficiency, her positive outlook and her quick smile. I am so sorry for your loss.
To Ned, Elizabeth, Jeff & families plus Phyllis, Wilmer & their families: Sincere Condolences from Don and Joyce in Ontario.
Dianne and I grew up together in the same community & went to the same P. S. and H. S. We also attended Lakeshore Teacher’s College in 1960/61 the beginning of our teaching careers.
Over the years we have kept in touch & we were very sad to hear this month January 2025 that she had passed away.
We did have the pleasure of visiting Ned and Dianne a couple of times in B.C. The last time was in 2016 when we were visiting Don’s brother John in Penticton. Ned and Dianne helped us navigate from the airport in our rental car to their place for lunch & then helped us with directions to Penticton. We returned to their lovely place and stayed overnight before flying back to Toronto Airport.
I have many memories of our school days and growing up on our farms in Proton Township now called Southgate Township.
Once again, Sincere Condolences! Cherish your memories!
Don and Joyce Thompson, Alliston Ontario
