We Remember
HEIGHES, Janice
November 9, 1950 — October 30, 2025
Born on November 9, 1950, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Janice Heighes passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at The Village at Smith Creek in West Kelowna, British Columbia, at the age of 74.
Janice was a woman of strong opinions, quick wit, and an even quicker laugh. She loved a simple gathering of company and sipping on her favourite cocktail (Silent Sam vodka and water). She had a fondness for gnomes, brass ornaments, and tomato plants (that somehow always thrived better than anyone else’s). Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she ruled with a wooden spoon in one hand and a generous heart in the other.
Janice was a proud and active member of the Elkford Lions Club, where her enthusiasm for helping others was only matched by her talent for keeping spirits high.
She is survived by her daughters Leesa and Carol, stepson Keegan; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, brothers and sister, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leroy; daughter Denise; mother Helen Walker; and brothers Ron and Neill.
Those who knew Janice will remember her as a firecracker: bright, lively, and impossible to forget once she’d lit up the room.
While no formal service will be held, we invite you to raise a Silent Sam in her memory.
