We Remember
HEISE, Brenda Florence Winnifred
April 16, 1947 — July 15, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Brenda Heise – beloved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend.
As a gentle, patient, caring, and compassionate woman, Brenda always had a warm smile or hug for everyone she met. Her kindhearted character is the legacy she passes on to her family.
Brenda was born April 16, 1947 in Kelowna, BC as the first and only daughter of Peggy and William Greenaway. She completed her primary and secondary schooling in Kelowna and achieved her hairdressing certification in Vernon. The growth of Kelowna and Westbank throughout Brenda’s life never ceased to amaze her; the Okanagan valley was her home and her heart.
Brenda married Alwin Heise in February 1967; they had two boys, Craig and Darrin. Brenda’s kids were the apple of her eye, as were her grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, and Alyssa and great-grandchild, Jaxon. Brenda was known as ‘Mom’ to many of her sons’ friends. She was beloved by all who met her and were fortunate to spend time with her.
Brenda is predeceased by her brothers Dave and Harold Greenaway, and nieces Ivy Matheson and Patricia Larsen. She is survived by her husband, Alwin; sons Craig Heise and Darrin (Kristal) Heise; her grandchildren Zachary Heise (Caitlin Ferguson) and Brandon and Alyssa Heise; great-grandson Jaxon Heise; brothers Tom (Judy) Greenaway, Fred (Lynn) Greenaway; and numerous adored nieces and nephews. Brenda and Alwin celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on February 27, 2024; she will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Brenda’s life will take place on TUESDAY, JULY 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM, located at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, with Pastor David Wunderlich officiating. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter.
In her memory, Brenda’s family asks that donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation in her name.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Kelowna General Hospital and Kelowna Sindi Ahluwalia Hawkins Centre, who took exceptional care of Brenda throughout her valiant battle with cancer.

I have had the privilege of knowing the Heise family for about 30 years. Craig and I have become the best of friends over this time. Brenda always had a smile on her face anytime I saw her. She was always welcoming to myself and my family. I was unable to attend her funeral but on this day I think of her and her loss to her beloved family. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing.
