We Remember

HELGASON, Margaret Lauralie “Laurie”
—
Margaret Lauralie (Laurie) Helgason passed away peacefully at Kelowna Hospice on January 25, 2025.
Laurie moved to Williams Lake in 1964 with her husband Ron. They raised their four children, Dan, Rick, Tina, and Cindy Helgason in the Cariboo. Laurie had a successful career selling Tupperware for many years and graduated from the University of Cariboo College with her Social Service Worker Certificate in 1992.
Laurie and Ron enjoyed more than 40 years in Williams Lake before moving to the Okanagan. They were passionate travellers, from visiting the Viking in Gimli Manitoba, to kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland! Some of their travels were courtesy of Laurie’s enormous success with (and consistent dedication to) entering contests.
Laurie is greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her husband, her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren.
We are all so grateful to the fantastic staff at Kelowna Hospice as well as all her excellent doctors and caregivers, especially Dr. Prozeski, for their enduring kindness and compassion.
A Celebration of Life drop-in will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, at Haven Hall, Orchard Haven, 1931 Barlee Road, Kelowna, BC.
