We Remember

HENDERSON, Mildred “Joy” (née Taylor, Darke)

March 2, 1936 — November 18, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Joy Henderson, who passed away peacefully at the age of 87.

Joy was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, to parents Florence and Saville Taylor. Joy married her first husband, Clifford Darke in 1956 and from that union came her three beloved children. She married Bill Henderson in 1981, and they spent many years travelling, first in their motor home, then by car during the winter months. Joy was predeceased by her husband Bill, her parents, and her brother Barrie. She is survived by her three children Bryan (Jo-Ann) Darke of Edmonton, Michael (Misa) Darke of North Vancouver and Karen (Allan) Rogers of Chilliwack, along with 5 grandchildren and one grand doggie. She also leaves behind her deeply beloved sister Carol Taylor, her nephew Ken, and niece Leslie, as well as three stepchildren Lyle, Sandra, and Teresa.

There will be no service at Joy’s request. A family gathering will be held at a later date.

If you wish to make a donation in Joy’s honour, please consider supporting the Hospice House Kelowna. They were wonderful and caring during her time there.

So sorry to hear of Joy’s passing. We met only once but that was all it took to see the loving human being that was Joy. Condolences to Joy’s family and to Carol and family. We know Joy will be missed. Joy’s light will continue to shine through the family who loved her dearly. .
