We Remember

HENNIG, Bruno

September 12, 1940 — August 10, 2026

Bruno Hennig, 85, of Kelowna passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026.

He was born in Godziembow, Poland, on September 12, 1940, moving to Kelowna when he was 12.  Bruno was a devoted husband to Doreen for 61 years, and together they built a home filled with laughter and deep affection.  He was a loving father to Rodney, Michelle, and Melody, and a caring grandfather to Dylan, Mitchell, Tyrel, and Sloane.  Bruno was a deeply beloved father-in-law to Sandra, Monty, and Clayton.

Bruno was an electrical engineer by trade, working many years in Libya in the oil fields.  He was known for his sharp mind, his strong work ethic, and the integrity he brought to every job.  When he wasn’t working, Bruno could usually be found fishing, tinkering with computers, or enjoying the beauty of nature.  So many memories were made at the beach on lazy Sunday afternoons, as well as numerous summers camping at Mabel Lake with the entire family.

Bruno had a passion for Jesus, loving God with all his heart.  He taught his children and grandchildren truths from the Bible, such as loving others, the peace that comes from forgiveness, and to work hard at whatever God had planned for their life.  As well, his legendary dry sense of humour will not be forgotten.

Bruno will be deeply missed by family and friends.

A private celebration of life will be held for Bruno later this fall.
