We Remember
HERREL, Mina
—
Passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at the age of 80. She is survived by her two sons: Michael and Marcus and Marc’s family, Patricia, Stefanie, Peter (Jenn) and Benjamin (Mel), all who she loved dearly. She also leaves behind her sister Gertrud Morgenthaler (Hans); brother-in-law Hans Herrel; sister-in-law Gertrud Zimmer (nee Herrel); numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Walter
Herrel, in 2009. People were important in Mina’s life and beside many close relations (too many to list) she enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining and not to forget, singing. She sang in the church choir for over 30 years. After retiring and moving to Kelowna, she joined the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church Choir and the German Liedertafel Choir because singing was a joyful event for her. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 11th at 10:00 am at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2091 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC, with interment to follow in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dear Michael.
I am so very sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. She was always a kind and friendly neighbor, and I knew she was a good cook because around dinner time I always enjoyed the tasty aromas as she was preparing the evening meal. I send my deepest condolences to you and the family.

Tante Mina will hold a special place in my heart. She always had a cheery voice and beautiful smile and was so welcoming any time you wanted to visit her. She was interested in what I was doing, how my children were growing and made us all feel so special. Her kitchen was constantly full of the wonderful dishes she would make to share with others. Her spirit was a gift to us all. We will miss you. My thoughts and prayers to Mike, Marc and family during this time.

Dear Mike, Mark and family. Our deepest sympathies to you during this time of loss. We come and we go – this world is not our home, it is only the bridge to a better one. The treasures of this earth do not last. But God has prepared a place for us, where with Him we will dwell and enjoy the riches of His grace forever. So dear friends, true Christians never see each other for the last time. In sure and certain hope we are saying “Auf wiedersehen” dear Mina and we will see each other soon.
Sincerely, Gerhard and Lydia Deiter

Mike,Mark and Pat,
We loved all that your mom and dad loved for. Your mom’s life was a treasure of wisdom and honour. It was a privilege to know her.
Love to all of you.
Mina was such a kind and generous person. Her soft and gentle nature will be missed by all who knew her. During my time in the Kelowna Liedertafel I would occasionally ask her about German grammar and pronunciation. She had been a teacher and was so patient with me. Her kindness was also extended in sharing one of her Torte recipes after I commented on how amazing it was.
To her “boys”,Mike and Mark, her daughter-in-law,the grand children, relatives, friends and indeed anyone that was blessed in knowing Mina, I send my deepest sorrow. She will be missed.
