We Remember
HILL, Gloria
—
Gloria passed away on August 7, 2020, at the age of 84. She will be missed by her daughter Laura (Ken) and sons Randy (Jill) and Greg, as well as her six grandchildren. She has gone to join her husband, Archie Hill.
Gloria was a little spitfire that held life in both hands. In the summer she was an avid golfer, and in the winter she enjoyed a good game of bridge or crib. A talented gardener who landscaped her previous home in West Kelowna herself, Gloria was recently known for her fabulous tomatoes.
This strong woman will be deeply missed.

“Spitfire” is sure a great way to describe your mom! I still remember the Christmas she ordered Chinese food for dinner and totally offended Grandma! So sorry for your loss – it sucks to lose your mom.
I like to think that Gloria and I had a special bond. She was 13 when I was born and we always seemed to have an affinity with one another. I called her the older sister I never had. After she moved to Kelowna she would drive down in her truck, stay at my Mom’s place in White Rock, then off to Richmond to her favourite butcher to load up and head back. She drove her truck for a number of years. When she had problems with her eyes, her doctor took away her right to drive, so when I asked her how that was working she replied: “I’m still driving. I just take the backroads so I don’t get caught”.
We phoned one another every year on birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and during the summer so we could catch up on family, local events, world problems, golfing, and cards. So much more. When she lived on Vector Road I visited and she showed me the stairs she had put in and the “driving range” in her basement. During the winter she would cover up the bare lightbulbs and practice with her driver and whiffle ball. I loved this woman’s spirit, her laugh, her tenacity, love of life, no nonsense, her sense of humour. I loved her with all my heart and will miss you every day.
Laura, Randy, and Greg. I’m so sorry for your loss. If you have half the energy your Mom had then you will be all good.
We are so sorry for your loss! We loved having Gloria as a member of our golf course for years. Her energy and fun loving attitude will certainly be missed. The Welder Family.
