HOFFMAN-CROSS, Lydia

Passed away with her children at her side at Hospice House after a brief illness on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the age of 80. She is survived by her husband Laird Cross; son Tim (Elaine) Hoffman of Barriere, BC; daughter Sandra (Larry) Clark of Qualicum Beach, BC; grandchildren Kris Hoffman, Gabrielle Clark, Chris Clark, and Michael Clark; great-grandchildren Kole and Erik Hoffman; step-children Jessica, Lawrence, and Andy (Deb) Cross; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many lifetime friends. She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Arthur Hoffman.
Lydia was born in Pontrilas, SK, and moved with her family to the Rutland area at the age of 10. She married Art Hoffman in 1955, and they raised their family and ran a business there for 40 years. Lydia volunteered in many Catholic activities, including the Catholic Women’s League. She also volunteered for many years in minor baseball. Her activities included: quilting, gardening, genealogy, and feeding her feathered backyard friends. She also enjoyed cooking favourite family dishes, travelling, growing orchids, needlepoint, and caring for her beloved pet dogs. After her husband Arthur’s passing in 2009, she married Laird Cross and retired to Winfield. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:00 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 750 Rutland Road North, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice House, 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2Z6.
