HOFFMAN, Lucille Hulda

Born December 24, 1914, passed away November 30, 2013, just 24 days prior to her 99th birthday.

 

Lucille was born to Hulda and Julius Tietz on a farm near Wadena, SK.  Following graduation from high school and then Normal School in Saskatoon, she taught in several country and small town schools in Saskatchewan.  It was while she was teaching south of Eatonia that she met Ernest.  The couple were married in January 1940.

 

Although Lucille had a passion for teaching, she also enjoyed farm life and all the activities associated with it.  Lucille was a faithful member of the church and was involved with various church activities, particularly teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.   These interests continued when the couple moved to Kelowna in 1967.  Gardening, baking, quilting, knitting, crocheting, doing puzzles, reading and water colour painting filled her days.

 

Lucille was predeceased by her husband Ernest, daughters-in-law, Pat and Cheech; brothers Rudolf and Werner and their wives, and two great grandchildren.  Lucille is mourned by sons: Lawrence (Sharon) of Saskatoon, Martin (Eileen) of Nanaimo, and Harvey of Kelowna; daughter Charlotte of Kelowna; six grandchildren: Cindy Looman (Mike), Lisa Hoffman, Kevin Hoffman (Gina), Mickéal Hoffman (Elizabeth), Dwight Hoffman and Shylo Hoffman; ten great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Hoffman and Evelyn Hoffman and many nieces and nephews.  A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 6th at 10:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 4091 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna, BC, V1W 1V7, with Pastor Lee Loveridge officiating.  Interment to follow in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Lutheran Hour” or First Lutheran Church, (both in c/o the church address above), or the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, 2268 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 1T2.  If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”
