We Remember

HOGLIN, Marvin James

March 9, 1935 — November 6, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marvin James Hoglin. Marvin passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, in Kelowna, BC.

He is survived by his wife Noella; children Debbie Urbaniak, Marty Hoglin, Tracy Hoglin, and Carrie Hoglin; grandchildren James Urbaniak, Ross McElman, Krystal Hoglin, Brooke Hoglin, Brendan Hoglin, and Kelsey Hoglin; great-grandchildren Gabe, Lyndon, and Samantha; sister Denny Thompson; and many extended family and friends.

Marvin was born in Melfort, SK on March 9, 1935.  The oldest of 4 he was born to Einar and Jean Hoglin who later had 3 girls, Maxine, Dianne, and Denise.

At the age of 17, he began his mining career underground at the Bryan Mine in Robb, AB, where he later met and married Noella.  The couple went on to have 4 children, Debbie, Marty, Tracy, and Carrie, who in turn brought 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren into the family.

Home was established in a few places over the years before setting in Kelowna, BC in 1970 where he worked at Brenda Mines for 25 years.

Marvin was an avid sports fan, especially hockey. He kept up with all the teams and players.  He had an active lifestyle which he enjoyed: curling, cross-country skiing, and he loved to go dancing. He loved spending time with family and friends and telling stories.

He was known for being a kind, hardworking good-hearted, fun-loving man who liked to laugh.  A true gentleman.

Marvin’s memory will be treasured forever and greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
