We Remember
HOLITZKI, Rose Eva (née Heinrick)
March 30, 1929 — April 6, 2022
With family by her side, Rose Holitzki passed away peacefully on April 6, 2022, at the age of 93. She will be lovingly missed by her children: Greg (Nonie), Charmaine, Kathy, Debra, and Diane (Brian); her grandchildren: Tara (Mike), Jamie (Steve), Jonathan (Robyn), Alaina (Kiefer), Brekker (Ashley), Elliott (Carly-Anne), Claire, Grace, and Anna; and her great-grandchildren: Cody, Blake, Conner, Knox, Cruz, Everett, and Isla; as well as her brother, Eddy.
Rose was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, the 11th of 13 children, and moved to the Okanagan with her family in 1936 before settling in Winfield, BC. It was there she worked and eventually met and married her husband, Randy, who predeceased her in 1999. Together they grew their family and created lifelong friends in the community.
Rose worked hard both outside and inside the home, and through example taught her family perseverance and selflessness. She worked at both the Okanagan Centre and Woodsdale Packinghouses as well as Hiram Walker Distillery for 22 years until her retirement in 1994. Rose also volunteered within the community. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 50 years, and after retirement volunteered at the Lake Country Food Bank and the Lake Country Health Planning Society.
Nothing, though, was more important than her family, and Rose always found time to cook weekly family meals, can everyone’s favourite pickles, and sew “grandma bags” to keep us all warm. She showed her love through her actions, and they spoke volumes.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Rachel Carver for her kindness and incredible care of our mother, as well as the staff at Kelowna Hospice House.
Mom, we will always remember your unwavering patience, compassion, and love. You will be greatly missed.
A family Graveside Service and gathering to celebrate Rose’s life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations can be made in Rose’s memory to the Kelowna Hospice House Central Okanagan.
