We Remember

HOLLING, Gary

September 5, 1958 — July 5, 2022

Gary, born September 5, 1958, in Cold Lake, AB, called Kelowna home for over 40 years.  Gary lost his fight with cancer on July 5, 2022.  He helped raise four children for whom his pride and love showed no bounds.

His passion for driving transport trucks, classic trucks, or faster GTOs was only surpassed by his joy of playing paintball or watching his Canucks lose – again.  Known for his kindness, off-dry humour, loyalty, and respect for others, Gary will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Survived by his mother Katherine; wife Maureen; children Tracy (Nick), Lisa (Dave), Liam, and Kieran; grandsons Tyler and Dylan; brother Larry; sister Susan; and a host of cousins.

In lieu of a service or flowers, please give to Canadian Blood Services,  and in Gary’s words, “preferably before you lift a favourite drink in my name.”

Condolences

  • Wayne Henry says:

Very sorry to hear about Gary. I hadn’t seen much of him in recent years but I liked him a lot. A decent and very funny man.

  • Gene McDonnell says:

My condolences to Maureen and family.

  • Jason "Sniper Bob" Howland says:

God dammit man. I wish I could have said goodbye, but I understand your desire for privacy. My utter heartfelt condolences to your home family, and your Paintball family. Since you started playing Paintball in ’93, there wasn’t an event in the Okanagan or Boundary Country where you weren’t involved as a player, organizer, or sponsor. Your passion for the sport was equaled or rivaled only by Dave “Super Dave” McLellan (RIP). RIP “Goat”. Between you, Dave, and “Angle Mike”, that’s one hell of a 3-man team waiting for the rest of us.

Next time I see you brother, GAME ON!

  • Dean "Laudio" Lusk says:

My sincerest condolences. Never had the privilege of meeting Gary in person, but greatly enjoyed our friendship and interaction over years on online gaming. He will be missed.
