We Remember

HOLMAN, Robert “Bob”

December 13, 1942 — March 31, 2025

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Holman, affectionately known as Bobby, Bob, Dad, or Poppy. Bob passed away with his family by his side on Monday, March 31, 2025, in Kelowna, BC.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Myrna. Over 3 decades, Bob and Myrna built a life filled with love, laughter, travel, and golf, all while nurturing a beautiful, blended family.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Iris Holman of New Westminster, BC, Bob is survived by his sons, Chris (Michelle) and Randy; stepsons Ian (Vineeta) and Brad (Paula). He is also survived by his much-loved siblings Denise and Geoffrey; nieces, Carri-Ann and Deanna; and his former wife, Nicole Jeffers (Proulx)

His grandchildren, Sarah, Carly, Danielle, Lauren, Victoria, Brooke, Maia, Jordan, Lucas, Amelia, Ethan, and great grandson Christian will miss their “Poppy”.  As they continue to move forward in life, his enduring legacy of humour and wisdom will forever be in their memories.

Born in London, England in 1942, Bob travelled to Canada with his mother when he was two years old and settled in Vancouver. After the war, his father returned to Canada, and the family later moved to New Westminster, where Bob attended elementary and high school.

Bob was not just a father; he was a dedicated and good-natured Dad who brought cheekiness and laughter into every moment with his sons. He instilled into them a strong work ethic, and he introduced them to a variety of activities from the golf course to the ice rink – while filling many moments with his quick-witted and playful sense of humour. Bob and his boys created unforgettable memories together, strengthened by a deep bond of love and laughter.

Bob served his community as a teacher and then a principal. He brought joy, humour, and mentorship to the classrooms and the staff of several schools in Richmond, BC. His students remembered him over the years, with many declaring him a favourite among their teachers. Many of Bob’s colleagues in education became lifelong friends and held a special place in his heart.

When retirement came, Bob and Myrna moved to Gallagher’s Canyon in Kelowna. Little did they know that this would be the beginning of the most beautiful retirement life they could have imagined.  Their lives were embraced by a vibrant community who would be like family.
Bob became a fixture on the golf course, just as he was at the golf club. He made a significant impact on the golf community, serving on numerous committees over the years, particularly supporting the Senior Men’s group.

Even though our shared rounds on the fairways and greens are over, our hearts will always hold a special place for Bob – as a loving husband, a wonderful father, grandfather, remarkable golfer, dedicated teacher, and irreplaceable friend. His vibrant spirit will echo in our memories, reflected in every swing, putt, and sand trap that we navigated together.  We will miss his infectious laughter, witty jokes, engaging stories, and the joy he brought into our lives. We will always treasure the beautiful moments that we shared with him.

In lieu of flowers, Bob would have appreciated his family and friends making a donation to support the Gallagher’s Canyon Junior Golf Program. Donations can be sent by e-transfers to reynoldssusan68@gmail.com or cheques made payable to Gallaghers Canyon Members Association. Please Note: Gallagher’s Junior Golf Program.
