It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Bert Esaias Homme.
Bert was born in Hythe, Alberta on January 8, 1932 to Gunhild Byklum and Charles Homme of Kristiansand, Norway, and passed away peacefully October 18, 2016 at 3 Links Manor , Kelowna, BC .
He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Mavis Terene Johnson, in November 1988. He leaves behind 4 children, Barbara Puetz of Salmon Arm, Barry and Lorne Homme of Dawson Creek, Leanne Ursel of Kelowna, along with 9 loving grandchildren.
Bert was married in 1953 and he settled in Dawson Creek where he was a successful Ford Dealer and business owner. He was an avid Curler, Golfer and baseball player. He enjoyed family times at the cabin at Moberly Lake.
He was an active member of the Elks, Kinsmen, Legion, Dawson Creek athletic association and a delegate for the Peace Curling Association as well as the Alberta Men’s and Senior Men’s Curling Association. He was a dedicated family man and we are all so blessed to have shared his life and many great memories.
The family would like to thank Bert’s many friends and the staff of Missionwood and 3 Links Manor for their friendship and care. A special thank you for his best friend Roy Nergaard , of Kelowna, BC for all the Tim Hortons coffee visits and the repeated stories and good laughs.
