We Remember
HORNING, Robert Allan “Rob”
February 2, 1963 — August 3, 2023
The time has come to remember, celebrate, and share the story of Robert Allan Horning, who suddenly passed away due to a motor vehicle accident on August 3, 2023, in Kelowna, BC.
Born in Kelowna, BC, to Al and Donna Horning, Rob grew up in the Rutland area. A typical “Horning”, Rob had a diverse athletic upbringing, participating in various sports from a young age, such as baseball and football. As he grew older, he became interested in bodybuilding, which played a significant role in helping him maintain a healthy body weight. This interest eventually led him to participate in bodybuilding competitions, where he achieved a notable accomplishment by placing 2nd in the BC over 50 class.
In addition to his passion for bodybuilding, Rob also had an affinity for the Toronto Blue Jays, he enjoyed following baseball and supporting his favourite team.
Left to treasure his memory is his son Austin Meunier; grandsons Leon and Noah Meunier; brother Brad Horning (Stewart Moracen); and sister Sandi Horning (Ken Frederiksen). Rob goes to join his parents Al and Donna, who went before him.
In keeping with Rob’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. He will be honoured in the hearts of those who had the joy of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jays Care Foundation.

I’m saddened to read this. My condolences to your family.
My heart goes out to al those people in Rob’s life. We went to high school together and he was a groomsman at my wedding. What a tragic loss. Gone way too soon. I have so many wonderful memories of Rob. My heart is broken.
So very sorry for your family’s loss 💔
So sorry to hear of Rob’s passing.
We are so saddened to hear of Rob’s untimely passing. Thanks, Rob, for so many laughs, for keeping your friends motivated at the gym, and for always sharing your pride in your family. Life got in the way in later years, but we won’t forget. Condolences, Brad, Sandi, Austin, and family – our thoughts are with you.
Rob Adamoski, Evelina Bledig, and Domenik.
Very sad to hear about Rob’s death. From sports in our early years, to high school, to rooming together in university, you were a good friend who helped me through some tough times. As we got older we drifted a part and I regret not keeping in touch with you. I will always remember the times the “Rutland boys” had as kids and into our adulthood. Rest in peace Rob and condolences to the family you’ve left behind.
Such a tragedy Sandi, you have been through so much. I’m sending you a big hug and know that I’m thinking of you. Love Irene
I met Rob when I worked with him and Dan as Regional Parks student employees during our university summers. For three summers the ‘Rutland students’ shared many laughs. My condolences to his family.
