We Remember
HORNUNG, Douglas Philip Earl
—
Douglas Philip Earl Hornung passed peacefully, with his loving daughter by his side, on August 14, 2023. Born to Nicholas and Hilda Hornung in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he is predeceased by his wife Madeleine and daughter Tammy, leaving his loving daughter Christine (Nick), and three grandsons Jake, Eli, and Leo.
Having lost his parents at a young age, Doug was entirely self-made and built several businesses as well as becoming an accomplished carpenter. He was known for his sense of humour, good nature, and soft heart. Doug wanted those who knew and loved him to raise a glass and remember him with a smile.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Christine and family, we are saddened to hear of Doug’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Christine and family, we are sad to hear about Doug passing away.
Sorry for your loss, Christine. Blessings to you, your family and Doug’s friends. I met Doug (and Maddy) through my wife, who knew them from her dental office. My wife connected Doug and me as we were both “new” to real estate. Me, sales. Doug, inspections. What followed was a friendship which I cherish to this day. I knew a little about houses but Doug knew a lot. And he was always willing to share. He was a stickler for detail, yet he was kind and easygoing. House after house he inspected for my clients became a rich learning experience for me and my clients. When I sold his house, he taught me a lesson about integrity when he and Maddy had the house looking better on possession for the new owners than it did months earlier when we took the photos. He made me a better real estate agent; he always did his best on every job, and he was kind and cared for people. We had lots of laughs. And I am saddened about his adventure ending. Far thee well, Doug. Dean
