We Remember

HOSLER, Patsy Marie
—
Sunrise, August 19, 1956 – Sunset, January, 2 2024
On January 2, 2024, in Kelowna, BC, Patsy Hosler passed away, in the arms of family, at the age of 67.
Pat was known to all who met her as an incredibly kind, unconditionally loving soul. She was a person who always knew exactly the words needed in times of difficulty and joy. Pat lived as an embodiment of compassion, finding her calling in caring for others. She became a nurse at a young age and found pride in walking closely with God. Pat made a career of holding the hands of God’s creatures in their times of need, touching hearts and leaving impacts everywhere she went. Born Patsy Duchscher in Calgary, AB, on August 19, 1956, to Frank & Dorothy, Pat spent her life exploring Alberta, Saskatchewan, and BC, finally settling in back in Kelowna, BC in the late 1990s.
It was in Kelowna that Patsy met her high school sweetheart, and the love of her life, Doug Hosler. Pat and Doug chose Calgary, AB, as the foundation for their love, welcoming their two children, Buffy and Frances. Their daughters in turn had families of their own, delighting Pat as it meant new family to love and spoil. Her connection to family transcended miles, as she made many a journey to Alberta nurturing the bonds holding her family together, revelling in each and every moment spent in their presence. Patsy’s unwavering dedication to her family was a defining piece of who she was, often finding there was never enough time to spend with family, taking all she could, and always wanting more. She loved nothing more than a trip to the mall, a friend in hand, to discover the newest textures, fabrics, and jewels of the season, often simply looking to share her riches with those she held closest. Road Trips delighted her, as she made many cherished memories with her grandchildren over the years, watching the waves crash and playing in the sand. When Pat was away from her family, she found companionship in her ipod (loaded chock-full of her favourite music) and her two feet, loving to walk miles at a time, and sometimes enjoy a “pink drink” from Starbucks. Pat was said by many to hold a true heart of gold, and despite the many medical hardships she endured, that inner light was never dimmed.
Patsy gifted us with uncountable memories and laughter, her legacy and brilliant sense of humour will be lived on through her surviving loved ones
Patsy is survived by her father, Frank Duchscher; her daughters and sons-in-law, Buffy (Arnold) McNeil and Frances (Geoff) Switzer; her grandchildren, Mariah (Ethan), Grayson, Diana, and Phaedra; and her great-grandchildren, Sophia, and Charlie; as well as by her brother and sisters-in-law, Dan (Carol) Duchscher, Lynn Dalziel; and by her niece and nephews, Steven (Holly), Larry (Emily), Ciara, and Mathew as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Doug Hosler (d. 1997); her mom, Dorothy Duchscher (d. 2010); and by her mother- and father-in-law, Val & Gordon Hosler.

I sure did love her.She will be missed.
My heartfelt condolences. I grew up knowing her as Auntie Pat as our parents all played cards together Pat and my Mom knew eachother as from School in Kelowna. I remember many moments together. And I remember how she loved to laugh and how she always as a kid tried to get me to eat Pee Soup. But was always ok when I still refused. I know our parents all lost contact over the yrs but I had at least managed to get her and my Dad (Ken) back in contact before he departed. Lots of Love Light and Healing to all the family as I know its a deep loss to endure someone who lite up everything and everyone.
