We Remember

A Memorial Reception will be held to honour Rod on MONDAY, MAY 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.

Rod passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022, with family at his bedside.  He leaves behind his loving wife Joanne; son Carey; stepdaughter Kim; and daughters Arlene and Laura.

Along with his four sisters and one brother, Rod was born and raised in Kimberley, BC.  It was in Kimberley that Rod began playing golf and perfected his game, so that at the age of 16 he won the Kootenay Junior Golf championship.  Golf was an interest that he continued to pursue, playing wherever and whenever he had the opportunity.  He also loved to hunt and fish, and he often provided a tasty trout for dinner.

Rod left Kimberley and moved to Vancouver, BC, where he established his career as a refrigeration mechanic.  He was interested in the automation of the field and became involved in developing programs which could remotely control the heating and ventilation of large office buildings.  Holidays usually involved trips back to Kimberley to visit his parents, Sarah and Jack.  During these times, he would typically take advantage of the trip to fish in the many creeks in the East Kootenays.

Rod was devoted to his family, and he spent many an evening watching Arlene play volleyball or Laura play soccer.  He enjoyed helping the girls with their homework – especially if it involved math.

Rod left us too soon, but we know he is in a better place.  He will be greatly missed.
