My “friendship” with Phyllis was limited to a daily passing by on the street, with me cycling to work at City Hall along Sutherland and Richter and Phyllis walking the other direction on the same streets; I’m guessing she was on her way to church. Each day, I would see Phyllis and she would smile at me as I passed. Finally, one day, I stopped and introduced myself. And each day thereafter, she would wave and say “hello Jan!” as I passed. It was a little extra something that I looked forward to each day on my way to work. Sadly, I haven’t seen Phyllis in a while and wondered how she was. I wish I had known her better. Anyone that could be so friendly to a cyclist passing by had to be a very special person. Heaven is a better place now that she is there. My condolences to her family and friends.
