We Remember
HUBICK, Ralph Stanley
October 18, 1936 — June 23, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce that husband, father, and grandfather, Ralph Stanley Hubick, passed away with family by his side after a courageous struggle with cancer.
He is now at peace…safe in the arms of Jesus.
He will be lovingly remembered by Shirley, his wife of 59 years; his daughters Lynn (Mike), Lorraine (Eric) and Laurel (Rob) and son Darrell (Shannon); ten grandchildren, of whom he was so proud: Cory (Nikki), Jennifer (Ed), Chelsey (Mike), Jodi (Trevor), Zachary, Shayla (Jared), Jamie (Pete), Kelsey (Andreas), Colin and Taylor; six great grandchildren: William, Cadance, Michael, Kaylee, Leuwin and Everly; six siblings: Alan (Pauline), Jason (Nancy), Carol, Dianne (Al), Brenda and Rick (Sherry); sister-in-law Vi; and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his parents George and Evelyn Hubick, brother Gerry and sister Sandie.
Dad was born in Southey, Saskatchewan, the second oldest child of nine. He was raised in many towns around Alberta, till they settled in Edmonton. Dad left home after school to work as an Air Craft Equipment Technician in the Air Force in Quebec. He met and married the love of his life, Shirley Lynn and a few years later, built a home on an acreage in Sherwood Park, Alberta, where they raised their four children.
They moved west to Kelowna in 1974. Dad made a career in accounting which he loved; he kept using his skills, even after retiring in April 2006. He was honoured to volunteer on many boards as treasurer: Building Healthy Families, where he volunteered for 25 years, Westbank Boys and Girls Club, Rotary Club in Westbank, where he was also the President for one year, various churches which he attended, Sun Village where he lived and Kelowna Lawn Bowling Club. He was also a volunteer at Bibles for Missions Thrift Store and Trinity Baptist Church.
Dad’s two passions were his Faith and his Family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Bibles for Mission Thrift Store, 121-1889 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5V5.

When I got the news today that he had passed away I felt such sadness. He was such a wonderful and caring man. He had such a great sense of humor and was such a godly man. Today he is looking down from Heaven and smiling down on you all. I had the privilege of growing up with you all as neighbors and friends. When John my brother had his 50th birthday your Mom and Dad came too. It was so lovely to see them both again. I want you to know I am praying for comfort, peace and strength for your whole family at this time. My deepest sympathy to Mrs.Hubick, Lynn, Lorraine, Darrell, Laurel and the rest of the family. Mr Hubick will be very missed by many. Take Care!!
It saddens me to hear about Ralph, he was such a caring individual and would do anything to lend a hand. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Hubick family. Hugs to you all, you are in my thoughts and prayer.
