HUCULAK, Terrence Tom

June 18, 1947 — April 18, 2022

Terrence Tom Huculak, known to us as Tom Huculak, 74, of Kelowna BC, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2022, after a heroic battle with lung cancer, with his son, sister and two close friends by his side.

Tom was born on June 18, 1947, in Kindersley, Saskatchewan to Thomas John and Tresa Ann Huculak; the family moved to Bonnyville, Alberta in 1948. Tom was a lively and happy boy, growing up on the family farm near Bonnyville. He lived in the area into his 20s.

After graduating from Fort Kent School, Tom pursued welding, earning a Journeyman Certificate. This kick-started his career as the owner of Huculak Welding. A move to Edmonton, AB with his young family followed in 1970. Tom has three children, Heath, Tammy, and Shari. His kindness and open heart allowed others to be extended family, with Colinda being treated as a daughter.

Tom was a strong-willed, kind, loving, and supportive man. His open heart and willingness to host and support were the foundation of many gatherings, bringing his family and friends together. He is lovingly remembered as trying to do the best for all involved.

At retirement in 2014, Tom fulfilled a long-time plan and moved to Kelowna, BC. He spent most of his time doing what he loved best, working on projects on his home and his families’ homes. He generally worked at bettering the environment around him. During this time, he also traveled to Mexico and the BC west coast with family and friends.

Tom was predeceased by his parents; sister June Bole; and brothers Jack, Vern, and Lance. He leaves behind all his children, Heath Foster (Cochrane, AB), Tammy Bristow (Denton, Texas), Shari Huculak (Edmonton, AB), and foster-daughter Colinda Roberts-Lee (Beaumont, AB); grandchildren Vanessa Bristow (Denton, Texas), and Caleb Dewhurst (Maple Ridge, BC), foster-grandsons Brandon Roberts-Lee and Warren Roberts; and his sisters Virginia Hutzuliak (Victoria, BC), Harlie Jones (Penticton, BC), Jacquie Huculak (Logan Lake, BC), and brother John Keith Huculak (Smith, AB).

No service will be held at this time. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lung Cancer Canada.
