Born February 10, 1993 in Stryi, Ukraine and passed June 16, 2024 in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada at the age of 31 years old.
He is survived by his young son, Marchyk Hudin; sister Olya (Oleg) Bormachenko;nephews Demyan and Eric Bormachenko; mother Svitlana(Vasyl) Matral and grandmother Lidia Goliak. He was preceded in death by his father Vasyl Hudin, grandparents Valery Goliak, Stefania and Myroslav Matral.
It is with a HUGE shock that his family in the Ukraine and his host family in Canada announce that Yaroslav passed away at 31 years old from a cardiac arrest due to a previously unknown medical condition at his home in Kelowna, BC, Canada.
Yaroslav was the first-born child to his parents, Ivan and Svitlana Hudin in Stryk, Ukraine. Unexpectedly, his father sadly passed away when Yaroslav was 10 months old. With time, Yaroslav’s mother remarried to Vasyl Matral, who was Yaroslav’s role model and father growing up, enjoying many fishing trips which they both loved sharing together. He loved his sister Olya from day one. They played together growing up building huts and playing with cars and dolls. Even as a three-year-old, he was adventurous, getting lost and being found sleeping in a barrel.
The family went on many adventures in Ukraine, going to the mountains, lakes, seas, castles, zoos, and circuses. He excelled in art, swimming, and diving growing up.
As Yaroslav grew up, he helped the family with cooking meals, housework and looking after his little sister, Olya.
He discovered skateboarding, mastered the skill, and then proceeded to breakdancing winning many awards in Ukraine. Another passion for Yaroslav as he grew up was football where he played goalkeeper. His team achieved many awards in Ukraine!
Once an adult, Yaroslav moved to Poland, where he met Vera and they had a son, Marchyk. He lived in Poland for approximately 5 years.
On August 22, 2023, Yaroslav arrived in Kelowna, BC, with his close friend Vasyl to begin a new and safe life in Canada.
He settled in with his host family and worked in the construction industry. At home, he showed his cooking skills, always with a huge smile. Yaroslav was always eager to help with anything around the house, such as carrying in groceries, laundry, any yard work and helping with renovations. Yarolsav loved the dogs, parrots, Sulcatca Tortoise and cats. He knew each one by name.
Communication was through Google Translate with ever so much laughter! But when Yaroslav would understand words in English, his face would light up with the biggest smile, nod his head and say, “YaYa”
Yaroslav began his Canadian life for 299 days, still hoping to achieve his dreams when he passed. He will be forever loved, missed and remembered by his loving family in Ukraine, Ukrainian friends in Kelowna, Vasyl Kovalchyn, Bogdan and Oksana Durybaba, as well as his host family in Canada, Bev Kenzie and Rick Marwood.
We cherish and love you, Yaroslav. You are a shining star forever in our hearts.
Yaroslav was cremated with his ashes being sent to Ukraine to his family.
