We Remember
IDE, Trudy
—
With much sadness, the family of Trudy Ide announces her passing on Monday, February 5, 2018, after a short but well fought battle with cancer. She was 87 years old. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob, of 65 years; two daughters: Karin (Dennis) Rasmussen, Wendy (Bruce) Ball; two granddaughters: Leah (Ryan) Lauscher and their three children (Gracelyn, Kaiden and Presley) and Deanna (Nathon) Kruk; two sisters: Inge Lambrecht and Hannelore Sternbiel.
She was born in Poland of German descent on May 26, 1930 and emigrated to Canada after the war in 1949. She met Bob in an English class they were both attending in Winnipeg. They got married in Banff, Alberta, in 1952. They raised their family in Calgary until 1971 when they moved to gentler weather in Kelowna.
Trudy was an amazing homemaker, but was also a trained seamstress, a Christmas seasonal postal worker, detailed circuitry solderer and fruit sorter in a packing house. When she retired, she was able to share her gifts by volunteering at Cottonwoods Care Centre for over 25 years and cooking hearty pots of soup for the Kelowna Gospel Mission with her church ladies group.
Trudy will always be remembered for her love of gardening, flavourful cooking and singing while she worked. She and Bob were members of their church choir for many years. Trudy appreciated classical music, history, biographies and PBS programs. Watching the nightly news was a daily ritual because it was important for her to remain current with world affairs.
Trudy was a woman of faith who loved her family, her friends, her church and her God. She was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed but was most comfortable doing it without recognition. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.
Please join us for a celebration of her life on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 1100 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2091 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC.
