We Remember
IMADA, Gerald Thomas
January 30, 1952 — July 30, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and dad, Gerald Thomas Imada. Gerald passed away after a brief battle with cancer on July 30, 2025.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Howie Imada. He is survived by his wife Judy; daughters, Kelly and Darcy; brother Ed (Janet) Imada and sister Naomi (Paul) Liebregts.
Gerald was born in Kamloops, BC on January 30, 1952. After graduating from North Kamloops Secondary School, Gerald attended UBC where he met Judy. Gerald graduated from UBC in 1975, with a bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering. After graduation, he worked for 40 years as a geotechnical engineer for Golder Associates Ltd. At retirement, Gerald was a principal with the firm.
Family was Gerald’s top priority. We have fond memories of camping trips, skiing, biking, golfing, hiking, attending swim meets, and just spending time together. In the summers, Gerald was an active volunteer with the Kelowna Ogopogo Summer Swim Club (meet manager, race official). He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Kelowna Springs Golf Course for many years.
Gerald enjoyed travelling, and his favourite destinations included Las Vegas and Hawaii. He was also fond of exploring new restaurants/breweries around Kelowna. Gerald enjoyed cooking for family and trying new recipes. We will miss his holiday dinners, especially the gravy and his scrambled eggs (which no one else can get quite right). Gerald was incredibly kind and thoughtful, and we will miss the little things he always did to make life easier for those around him.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please go to your favourite brewery, cidery, or restaurant and raise a glass in Gerald’s memory.
