We Remember
INGVARSSON, Audur
April 4, 1941 — December 16, 2025
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the loss of Audur Ingvarsson, who passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 84.
Left to hold her dear to their hearts are those she loved most, including her husband of 58 years, Sam; children Gudmundur Sumarlidason, Ragnheidur Sumarlidadottir, Arnar Bernhardsson, and Hlynur Ingvarsson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She now goes to join her parents, Ardis and Gudmundur, and 3 siblings who passed before her.
Audur was a person who had time for everyone. Whether meeting someone for the first time or spending hours with those she loved most, she made people feel welcome, heard, and valued. Her warmth and generosity of spirit left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
She was wonderfully funny and a gifted storyteller, able to turn everyday moments into memorable tales, often shared with laughter and a sparkle in her eye. Audur carried her proud Icelandic heritage with deep affection, honoring it through her stories, traditions, and the way she connected people to culture and place.
As a tour guide, Audur delighted in showing others the beauty of the world around her, sharing knowledge with enthusiasm and care. As a baker, she expressed love through food, filling homes with comforting aromas and bringing people together around the table. In everything she did, she went above and beyond, especially for her family and close friends, for whom she gave endlessly of her time, energy, and heart.
Audur will be remembered for her kindness, humor, and the way she made life richer simply by being part of it. Her stories, her laughter, and her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends will each honor Audur in their own ways. No formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation.

Dear Sumarliði and family.
Halldóra and Birgir from Iceland send their sincere condolences on the passing of our dear Auður. Our thoughts return to the 1980s when we were students in Edmonton and stopped several times in Kelowna during our travels to British Colombia, often bringing with us relatives from Iceland. We remember Dúdda’s exceptional hosbitality when she opened her home to us with a cheerful welcome, delicious meals and accommodation. We remember those moments with longing and gratitude.
Kæri Sumarliði. Við þökkum þér fyrir allar þessar stundir og óskum þér alls hins besta.
Halldóra Björnsdóttir,
Birgir Þór Baldvinsson
