ISABEY, Betty

October 22, 1945 — April 29, 2020

Our beloved Betty Isabey passed away on April 29, 2020 at the age of 74. She will be missed by her loving husband, Giles; daughter Lorelei Isabey (Robert); her sons Keith Isabey (Monica Candy) and Kevin Isabey (Trisha); and her grandchildren Tristan and Jonah Sabatini, Lauren and Matthew Isabey, and Ella Psaila. She also leaves behind her sisters Linda Rice and Irene Inglis; her brother Bernie Bouchey (Duchie); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Noella Bouchey and her brother Ted Bouchey (Anne).

Betty was born at her home in Sudbury, Ontario on October 22, 1945. She moved to Sioux Lookout, Ontario in 1957 where she resided until she and her husband Giles moved to Kelowna, BC in 2015. Betty was a schoolteacher in Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay. She was an active member of the community, contributing her time to many different organizations. She LOVED tennis, golf, curling, and the people that were important to her. Betty and Giles wintered in Mesa, Arizona for 25 years. Betty made friends wherever she went and lived life to the fullest. Betty was an amazing grandmother, mother, sister, wife, aunt, and friend. Her compassion and kindness impacted us all and her motto was to “be humble and kind”.

I knew Betty’s little sister Linda better than Betty but I always saw her as a hip and beautiful lady. She had class. I remember her first day teaching at Sacred Heart School. “Hi Betty,” She asked me then if addressing me by her first name was appropriate? I didn’t get it. She was always Betty. Still is. R.I.P.
