We Remember
JARMAN, Peter Desmond
October 24, 1947 — September 16, 2026
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Jarman on September 16, 2026, in Kelowna, BC. He was born on October 24, 1947, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Born to Edna and Jack Jarman, Peter attended the all-boys Sydney Grammar School and enjoyed sports such as cricket, rugby, and athletics. He also enjoyed surfing and was a lifesaver at Long Reef Beach. Peter worked part-time with his dad, Jack, at the family’s liquor store on weekends.
Peter went on an extended working holiday after university, skiing and working in Zermatt and touring Europe. He then settled in Canada (even though Canadian winters certainly made him miss the warm shores of Australia).
Peter worked for CSRD in Salmon Arm, BC, for 24 years. Retirement beckoned, so he left his position as Treasurer and started a new chapter of life in 2014. Peter and Dianna moved to Kelowna, BC, where Peter enjoyed the summers as a golf ambassador (and his time on the green with his friends) at Black Mountain Golf Club.
Peter was an avid reader on the topic of Porsches; he read everything he could get his hands on related to the car. Although he never owned one himself, he could tell you just about everything there was to know about them. He was delighted when, during a Porsche tour for his retirement, he got to drive a number of them!
Throughout the years, Peter kept up his skiing, and family ski vacations remained a highlight for him.
Peter will be missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him, but none more than his loving wife of 43 years, Dianna; daughters, Tiffany, Leah, and Brittany; his son, Jack; and his grandkids, Ayla, Taylor, and Benny.

My Sweet Dianna, I sincerely offer my condolences to you and your children. While I was not privileged to have known Peter very well, when I did have the opportunity to spend time with him and Dianna, I found Peter to be a very kind, very patient and very warm person. I know that he has left a huge hole in the hearts of Dianna and his children. Peter is at peace now and well passed his pain, both emotionally and physically. The process of healing will now begin for Dianna and his children. I’m so very sorry for all of you but do gather strength from your belief system and take heart in knowing that he is truly at peace and resting.
You and the children will be forever in my thoughts and in my heart ❤️
Aunty Roxanna and family.
Thanks Aunty.
We miss him terribly.
Love Dianna
I met Peter through Black Mountain Golf Club where we both served as Marshals for a time. I was fortunate enough to be able play golf with Peter as part of our Marshal group. I’ll remember him as friendly, soft spoken and generous with stories of his past life adventures. I still fondly remember him now when our group plays a series of holes we call “Peter’s Corner”, where he would always issue a friendly challenge to make the game a little more interesting.
Rest in peace Peter, now that your pain and suffering is done.
My sincere condolences to the family.
Thanks Pat,
It’s so nice and comforting to hear stories about how others enjoyed their time with Peter. I remember how much he enjoyed his time with all his good friends on the golf course.

Peter, the calculator 🙂. We remember at Peter and Dianna’s wedding…Peter’s Best Man, Ron Graham, was on the stage at the wedding reception as Master of Ceremonies. Ron had in his hand a calculator. He held up the calculator and said, ‘this aptly depicts Peter.’ Peter calculated everything. He was a man of numbers. One reason for this trait — from being enthralled with the physical universe and telescopes to being the calculating person that won the position at the CSRD as Treasurer. If I had a question about almost anything, Peter had something profound and really worthwhile to share. He will be greatly missed and we will continue to enjoy the memories of him . Lvnhugs continue as the family and friends reminisce.
Thanks Lynn, yes that picture was from our daughter’s wedding.
Thanks Lynn,
That picture was taken at our daughter’s wedding. Thanks for sharing.

Dearest Dianna and family, so sad to hear of the loss of Peter. He was a quiet, gentle, and caring man. We had many fun times with your family when you lived in Salmon Arm, dinners, card parties, or just enjoying a coffee together, many laughs. Always good hosts. I have thought of you often since you moved away. We hope you gain strength in each other and the support of others who still care so much, XXX Love, Denise and Theron
Thanks for the note Denise. So kind of you to think of us. Miss you a lot too. 🙂

Dear Dianna and Family
I was saddened to learn this morning that Peter has passed away. I was just thinking of him the other day when I was reflecting back on one of our budget conversations. I first met him over 30 years ago and it was wonderful to what him climb the ladder and become the treasurer at the CSRD. He was a gentle soul with a great sense of humour which I always appreciated. He was steadfast in his approach and would always take the time to discuss issues with you making sure you understood the questions put before you.
Please accept my deepest condolences in the loss of such a great guy.
Sincerely Rhona
Thanks Rhona,
Peter always had great things to say about you too. He loved his work at the CSRD and really appreciated his many years working there.
Thanks again for your condolences.

Dearest Dianna….we are so sorry for your loss! We may have lost touch over the years but you and I were kindred spirits and our families had lots of fun together! Remember the ball games…and the parties at the farm! Just wanted to let you know we care!
Hi Retha,
Thank you for the note, it means a lot to me and the kids. Please come and visit if you’re ever in Kelowna. ❤️
Love Dianna and family
Dianna, My most heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Please know I am thinking of you all.
Thank you. 😊
We are so sad to hear that Peter was so ill and that he passed away. Our thoughts and heart go out to you, Dianna
and your family at this time. The last few years must have been so difficult for you all. Our memories of Peter go back
to the early years when he was fairly “new” here from Australia. He tried diligently to convince us to love Vegimite but there
was no convincing us!……LOL….We so enjoyed the summers when you and Peter and the kids would join us at the Shuswap
cabin when we came there for couple of weeks in the summer. Peter was a very kind and caring soul ..We truly look forward
to seeing Peter again one day….Job. 14: 14,15….Sincerely, Ron and Lynn
Thank you for you kind words Lynn, It was a very long battle (8 years) with Cancer and Parkinsons.
Peter was very stoic and didn’t give up. Even though he suffered a great deal, he remained kind and caring right until the end.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Dear Dianna and family, I’m so sorry to hear this news. Peter brightened our lives when he first came to Canada and stayed with my parents, before heading off to ski out west. I remember his long hair and big bushy beard and his sense of fun. And he left behind his copy of “The Hobbit”, thus introducing us all to Tolkien’s magic. Very happy memories of an adventurous spirit!
Thanks for the note Jennifer,
We are enjoying hearing all the stories about Peter and how much he meant to everyone.
Love Dianna and family
