We Remember
JENSEN, Doreen Mary
April 13, 1944 — July 12, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Doreen Mary Jensen, who unexpectedly passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of 82.
Doreen is lovingly survived by her children Twyla-Lea (Jeff), Jeanine (Shayne), and Linda; grandchild, Landyn; brother Fred, sisters Colleen and Shirley.
She now goes to join those who passed before her, including her husband of 55 years, Larry Jensen (d. 2018); brother Roy; sister Pearl; and parents Lee and Mary Colter.
Some of her children’s favourite memories of Doreen, are of the times that they spent, as a family, camping, snowmobiling and seeing the province.
A talented and creative woman, Doreen was well known throughout her community for her beautiful quilts, sewing, and many arts and crafts. She learned to sew at an early age, later developing a passion for quilting. She was also a wonderful baker and shared her baking with many family members and friends.
Hardworking and capable, there was truly no job Doreen couldn’t do. Over the years, she worked as a ranch cook, at Woolworths, in shoe sales at Woodward’s, at a service station, and later as a tax preparer. Whatever role she took on, she approached it with determination, dedication, and a strong work ethic that earned the respect of those around her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Further details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Police Victim Services and the Kelowna Women’s Shelter.
If you wish to send a condolence, post photos, or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.
