We Remember
JERVIS, Nora
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
Gone to join her greatest loves, God and husband Norman, Nora Patricia Jervis passed away on September 23, 2013 at the age of 87 years. Nora embraced each and every day and found contentment and comfort in her faith, family, and friends.
Nora’s passion for home and Church were the cornerstones of her life. Her generous and caring spirit lives on in those that hold her so dear: sons Michael and Paddy, daughter-in-law Janine, beloved granddaughters Caylene & Tia and her sister, Phil Fitzgerald.
Born in Dundalk, Ireland in 1926, Nora worked for a number of years in Dublin as an architectural assistant. Her Canadian adventure began when Nora met a young Canadian man who was on holidays in Ireland. Armed with little more than love and trust in her heart, Nora emigrated to McBride, BC in 1963 where she married Norman Harry Jervis that same year. Within a short time, the Jervis family grew with the arrival of Paddy, and shortly thereafter, Michael. After eight years in McBride, Nora and family settled in Kelowna where mom led an active life raising two boys as well as being a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Parish. Later in life, Nora and Norman enjoyed being involved in their grandchildren’s lives. Mom was especially proud of the fact that Tia and Caylene have pursued and excelled in Irish dancing.
Nora’s life abruptly changed in 1999 when Norman passed away after almost 37 years of marriage. Although his absence was deeply felt, Nora’s faith in God gave her comfort and strength. Always active and engaged in the world around her, Nora maintained her independence until 2012 when she moved to Sunpointe Village.
Her final months and days in Kelowna were happy ones. With son Michael, Nora enjoyed trips to the beach, dinners out or in, spirited debate, and a continued, loving friendship. She leaves us to mourn her passing while celebrating her return to the arms of those she loved with such dedication.
Prayers will be recited on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 7:30 pm and a Mass will be held on Monday, September 30th at 10:30 am both at Immaculate Conception Parish, 839 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC.
Per Nora’s wishes, and for those wishing to acknowledge her life, in lieu of flowers, please provide a donation towards offering for the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the deceased. For those wishing to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences”.

Dear Michael & Paddy,
Thanks Michael for letting mom know, she would have never known otherwise. As per your mom’s request, we have arranged for a couple of masses to be said for the deceased (especially your mom). She was a special lady, a good example (she was my sponsor at confirmation).
Deepest Sympathy,
Anna May Charles & family
Thanks very much Anna Marie. I hope things are well with you and the family. Mike
Paddy & Michael, so sorry to hear the sad news. Have many fond memories.
Dear boys – I am saddened by your Mom’s passing. As much as a person in my former profession could do, I adored both Nora and Norman, and wish you fellows well in this troubling time.
Hi Lance, thanks so much, nice to hear from you. Mom and Dad felt the exact same about you, you always were so good to them anytime they needed your services, one in a million. She sure will be missed but I am grateful for her long life and good health. Take care Lance
Paddy and Michael, was so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. You’re in our thoughts and prayers. My mother has some old photos of your Mom, I’m not sure if you have copies of them, let us know if don’t.

My thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Your mother was very kind hearted and had a great interest in her extended family. May her spark of life live on through you all.

Hi Eileen, thanks so much, she talked fondly of you many times and so proud of all that you had accomplished (as she was of all her family in Ireland)
Sincerest sympathies on the death of Nora. I have very fond memories of her when she visited ireland – especially in 1996 when she came to my wedding. I chatted with her on the phone in recent times and was alway impressed with how she kept up to date with all current affairs happening in Ireland. She was a unique lady.
From una Malone.
Hi Una, thanks very much, Mom always was interested in what was going on in Ireland and was always interested in what you were doing (along with the rest of your family). I hope to get to Ireland next year and have a visit with everyone. Thanks Mike
Dear Paddy and Michael,
We are so sad to hear of Nora’s passing. How fortunate we feel to have known her. Our deepest condolences.

Paddy and Michael. I never knew this condolence book was in existence until now. I knew Nora well. She was of course my Aunt and a sister of my late Mum Agnes. I was a regular visitor to Kelowna from Ireland over many years. Your mum was a very kind and thoughtful person and a woman of great faith. Your Dad Norman was a great man . He had a great sense of humour..Your mum contacted me by phone just before she passed. She was in good form. It’s very sad that the Ward Women all died within a short period of years. Anyway I hope you are both getting on well and that everybody is safe from the recent fires in Kelowna
All the best Gerry Malone Blackrock, Dundalk Louth Ireland
