We Remember

JOHNSON, Aaron

June 21, 1963 — December 14, 2024

It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the loss of Aaron Johnson, who passed away on December 14, 2024, from a sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest at the age of 61.

Aaron was born on June 21, 1963, and left a lasting mark on the world through his kindness, creativity, and generosity. A man of many talents and interests, Aaron had a remarkable ability to blend his professional life with his personal passions. As a beloved sales rep within the car audio industry, he was not only a mentor to many but also a source of inspiration, often sought after for his guidance and perspective. Aaron loved his work and the community within it, and had no plans to retire so he could continue those friendships and the career that he had a strong passion for. His significant presence in the OK VW community further showcased his enthusiasm for life and his ability to connect deeply with those around him. Known for being dependable and giving, Aaron embodied the qualities of a true gentleman, always ready to lend a hand or share his wisdom. The family wants to emphasize that Aaron truly valued and cherished the relationships he built withinin these communites, and had a life filled with treausured friendships.

In 2002, Aaron and his wife Leah moved to their dream hobby farm, where they created a life filled with love, hard work, and shared dreams. For 22 years, Aaron helped Leah build her vision, crafting a beautiful property for their family, that included a greenhouse, and several homes for their wide variety of animals. Most recently he built a chicken coop to house their 9 pet chickens. If Aaron could dream it, he could build it. Within the last year Aaron helped build his dream workshop which included a woodwork station, a house for his many Volkswagens, and even a discotheque (80 pound disco ball included). Most imporantly, this was a place to gather for Aaron’s closest friends, where they would spend hours laughing, working on cars, and enjoying music. Shortly before his passing Aaron planted many trees on his property. He took pride in caring for each and every one of them and noticing the small changes that happened daily. Aaron said that by taking this time every day, it helped slow down life so it wouldn’t pass too quickly.

Beyond his work and farm life, Aaron enjoyed many hobbies that filled his days. To name a few: gardening, bread making, birdwatching, unicycling, disco dancing with Leah… the list goes on. His friends and family were often suprised by his wide arrange of skills, and often thought there was nothing that Aaron couldn’t do. Another highlight was his cooking. Aaron was a phenomenal cook, and he cherished cooking for groups and sharing meals with those closest to him. This April, Aaron became a proud grandfather to his first grandchild, Lucas Aaron Pertile, and was overjoyed by this addition to his life. Aaron’s warmth, unique sense of humour, and dedication impacted everyone he met, leaving a lifetime of love and inspiration that will be remembered by all whose lives he touched. Aaron created a legacy around him, and will never be forgotten.

Left to hold him dear to their hearts are his wife of 26 years, Leah; daughter Kayla (Simon); sons Seth (Rae) and Cyrus (Kayla); grandson Lucas; his parents Koko & Paul; sister Genevieve (Steve); Uncle Tom; stepmother Coral, and many members of his beloved extended family. He now goes to join those who passed before him, including his father Murray, and his grandparents who he loved dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2025. Details to be shared at a later date.

Condolences

  • Derrick & Cherise says:

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Leah, the entire Johnson family and everyone who’s lives were touched by Aaron.
Aaron, you were truly one of a kind. An absolute legend in the car audio world, and a
mentor who taught me what was possible when you put your mind to it.
What started as a simple business relationship, turned into a lasting friendship that I will cherish forever.
We may not have caught the biggest fish that day, but we did it together.
You will be missed my friend, but never forgotten.
