We Remember
JONES, Lloyd Daleford “Dale”
January 26, 1934 — October 29, 2025
Dearly loved and respected by family and friends, Dale Jones passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Kelowna, British Columbia on October 29, 2025, at the age of 91.
Lloyd Daleford “Dale” Jones was born on January 26, 1934, in Branspeth, Saskatchewan to George Lloyd Jones and Edith Frances McFarlane Jones. He was the older brother of Ivy.
He had a happy childhood growing up on the family farm in Saskatchewan, where he enjoyed horseback riding, and imagined someday owning his own small farm. As a teenager, he attended Canadian Union College in Lacombe, Alberta, where he made numerous lifelong friends.
Dale later moved to Lamming Mills, B.C., and then Williams Lake, where, for many years, he worked as an electrician and millwright at Jacobsen’s Mill, and later at Jackpine Forest Products. Known for his diligence and outstanding work ethic, Dale received many commendations throughout his work life. Despite the many accolades, he remained a humble man. Dale was a “jack of all trades”, and many believe that there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t fix. He had numerous hobbies, and a special interest in trains. Dale was also a private pilot who flew his own plane throughout British Columbia, both for work and pleasure.
Throughout his life, Dale was an active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and used his time and talents whenever he could. Whether singing, playing his guitar, or preaching a sermon, he willingly helped when asked. Part of each summer was spent at the church’s “Camp Hope” where he used his skills as a “sparkie” and spent many hours up a ladder dealing with electrical issues, and problem-solving. Last August, he was formally recognized for his years of selfless service.
During the years he lived in Lamming Mills, Dale met and married his first wife Edna, and became the stepfather of her children. He particularly cherished his years working together with his stepson Alan, whom he loved dearly.
In 2006, Dale married Ruth, and became a cherished, respected member of a big, boisterous family. They had many happy years together.
Over the last few months, while Dale was in the hospital and then hospice, our family has been greatly blessed by the many friends and loved ones who came to spend time with him, reminisce, and share their stories of friendship with him.
Our memories of him will be greatly cherished. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Ruth and by his stepchildren Randy and Lisa Gerber, Bill and Bonnie Gerber, Karen and Landon Ritchey, and Cheri Gerber. He was loved by his grandchildren Shannon, Ryan, Shaun and Sarah, Caitlin, Bethany and Rob, Beau and Natassja, Brooklyn, Kayla and Dustin, Adam and Shelby, and Garrison.
In addition to his 7 great-grandchildren, who have fond memories of Grandpa Dale taking them on golf cart rides at Camp Hope, he leaves to mourn his loss his sister Ivy, stepson Alan, extended family, and numerous friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 3:00 pm (PST), at the Rutland Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 130 Gerstmar Road, Kelowna, BC. Reception to follow.

Caring thoughts are with you Ruth, as you say your earthly good-bye to Dale. We’ll always remember Dale for his wonderful sauerkraut. Our Sincere Condolences
My condolences to his precious family. I will always remember Dale Jones and treasure him as a ‘constant’ in my life as a young girl in Williams Lake. He was a good friend of my parents and he and Edna were such wonderful hosts who regularly invited us over to visit. On one of the last times I saw Dale at Camp Hope, we reminisced about the time he truly saved my life as a very little girl. A friend of mine and I wandered into Jacobson Bros. sawmill (without anyone knowing). One of us ‘tripped’ the conveyor belt which began to transport me to heights and an ending which would have likely ended in my untimely demise. Dale was working nearby and saw what happened and bolted over from where he was hitting the emergency STOP just in time. He crawled up to rescue me and I don’t think I realized the seriousness of it all until much later. The two of us laughed about it the last time we talked about it, but the night it happened, my parents didn’t quite feel the same way. Dale Jones was such a lovely man. I will miss just knowing that he is with us here on earth but look forward to a brighter day and the Hope we have of the soon return of Jesus.
Although I didn’t know Dale personally, I respected him and loved him because he loved our family. He was a first cousin to my mother and married into my Dad;s side of the family. I saw so many amazing Facebook posts about him and heard so many stories of his love and care and concern for others, of his generous personality and of his faith and love for Jesus. I know there will be a hole in the family without him and am so sorry he will be so terribly missed.. You have this hope that will hold you up until you meet again. Love you all…..
Ruthie and all the family – My thoughts and prayers are with all of you today as you celebrate and remember Dale’s life. I was planning on linking in to the celebration but just found out today the livestream was cancelled. I was very disappointed. I knew Dale for such a short time when I visited you last year, but when I left, I began to know what a special person he was. Among other things, I was beginning to see his talent in the kitchen! You were so blessed to have him in your life. And I know he brought you joy and happiness. I am so sorry he is gone. Again my prayers to all of you. Love to you all, cousin Michelle
