We Remember

JONES, Matthew

It is with a broken heart that I announce that Matthew Jones passed away suddenly on November 14, 2020. Matt was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He leaves behind his loving sister Peggy O’Brien from Whiterock, BC. Matt was recently predeceased by his loving parents father, Melvin (d. July 2019); mother, Leona (d. Dec 2007); and brother-in-law, Dan O’Brien (d. Dec 2001); as well as his grandparents and many aunts & uncles.

Matt moved to Kelowna in 1978, his first job was with Campion boats.  After a short time, he moved on to start his own business that is now known as Headhunters!

No one lived more of a full life than Matt did, he enjoyed every second.  His #1 love was his Harley!  An ideal day was on the bike with the sun on his face and wind blowing through his hair.  He lived his life as he wanted and embraced any risk that came his way.  No one had a bigger smile or contagious laugh then he did.  He was always pulling a practical joke or razzed you somehow.  But, if you ever needed anyone in your court, Matt was your man.  He always had your back!

Matt was a total Foody!  This was inspired by his grandmothers kitchen and her amazing cooking.  No one enjoyed great cuisine more than he did; the spicier the better, including all the many years of pig roasts in Joe Rich, and of course, a nice cold margarita.

Matt had so many amazing stories from his travels.  He loved biking, fishing, hunting, boating, quadding & adventure!  Oh, and did I mention his love for Science Fiction!

Matt will be missed by so many; his friendships went so deep.  To all the people who entered his life, he loved you wholeheartedly.  Family and friends meant everything to him.

Matt was taken from us way to soon. I was so not ready to let you go.  You have left a huge hole in my heart, I will love you forever, rest in peace my big brother.

No funeral service will be held, instead pour a drink, and share your favourite story. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
