We Remember
JONES, Maybella Evelyn
October 29, 1922 — January 19, 2022
Our beloved mother, nana, great nana, aunt, and friend, Maybella Evelyn Jones (née Nicholetts) of Kelowna, BC, passed away at the age of 99 years. She was unable to overcome Covid.
She will be lovingly missed by her son Barry (Judy) Jones of Edmonton, AB and her daughter Carolyn (Arthur) Friesen of Elliot Lake, ON; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Albert Gilbert Jones.
Maybella enjoyed life and cherished her family. She thrived having her family around her. She enjoyed good friends and good wine. Through the years, she was active with camping, fishing, golfing, playing bridge, square dancing, traveling, and going out to eat. She and Albert did “snowbirding” until they moved to Kelowna in 1989. During WWII, she worked as a welder with Canada Car in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She was not much of an avid reader but did like to use the newspaper to cover herself while napping. She always had the best answers to family members if they complained to her; she would simply reply, “there is always something to keep the rabbit’s tail short”.
A celebration of her life will be held in the future, she is interred next to her late husband at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Many thanks to the staff at Village at Smith Creek and to her caring friend of many years, Lorilee Harris.
Donations can be made to CNIB, in her name.

Dear Carolyn, Art, Barry, Judy & family,
Oh how I wish I knew your Mom years ago! I met her at 97 years of age & she was still sharp in so many ways. I truly enjoyed our visits. She loved music & singing & would aways have her toes & hands tapping to the music. I will truly miss her. My deepest condolences to you all.
Love Sue
