We Remember
JONES, Robert David
November 26, 1969 — April 19, 2017
With sorrow we announce David Jones, 47, of Summerland passed away, surrounded by his family on April 19, 2017 at Kelowna General Hospital. David was born in Edmonton, the son of Robert Jones (Victoria) and Jean Jones, née Haryett (Penticton). David met his wife Claire McGowan in Calgary in 1993 and their children Brayden and Chloe were both born there. They have resided in the Okanagan since 2006. David will be deeply missed by his two sisters, Heidi (Victoria) and Julie (Calgary), his stepfather Peter Osborne (Penticton), mother in law Val McGowan (Summerland), father in law Allan McGowan (Tulameen), brothers in law Stephen McGowan (Salt Lake City) and Allan Eisenbart (Calgary), as well as by many other family members across British Columbia and Alberta. David loved his family deeply. One of his passions was cooking. He spent many hours in the kitchen creating feasts for Claire, Brayden and Chloe and he was often called upon to cook for family special occasions, birthdays and holidays. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kelowna General Hospital.

We are speechless. I have so many memories of David growing up, he was always the happy go luckily kid. Unfortunately with time and distance we had not had the chance to see David as much as we should have and would have liked. Our hearts go out to Claire, Braden, Chloe, Jean and Peter, Heidi, Julie, and their families.
Love,
Greg, Barbara, Shawn and Jordan
David was one of my earliest playmates. He exists in many of my earliest memories both in Edmonton and Naramata. He gave great, meaningful hugs and had a wonderful laugh that filled the room. He clearly loved his family deeply and will be missed. I am still stunned.

So shocked to come across this very sad news when I was trying to find Claire or Dave on google/social media. I am from the UK and we met whilst we were travelling across the Rockies for a month around 17 years ago. Claire, Dave, Brayden and Chloe came to stay with us in England. We had a fabulous trip, a really good laugh. I hope that this reaches Claire as we lost touch and I have been trying to find her. Again such sad news to come across whilst looking for someone. Deepest condolences to all the family.

Hi Lisa, I don’t know if this will get to you but my email is claire.mcjones@gmail.com
Dear Brother, I still miss you very much! I miss that smile and the bear hugs that came along with it! You were always proud of me and my life’s accomplishments. You taught me to be close to the Earth and Creator. To respect the outdoors and to cherish so much beauty in this world. It’s coming on 6 years since you left us. Grief hasn’t gotten any easier, just different. I hope you knew how much I love you, Nistîs, I will always be Mashkwa to you!! 😊💕💕💕
