We Remember
KELLER, Shirley Jane (née Wagner)
—
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Shirley Jane Keller (née Wagner), on August 26th, 2018. A tireless supporter of the Kelowna International Choir, First Lutheran Church, and in general, her friends and family, Shirley taught us to keep loved ones near no matter the distance, that you should always be able to read the newspaper through your strüdel dough, and to hang on to your pickle jars for next year. She will be affectionately remembered for her smile, cabbage rolls, and her habit of handing out gum to everyone sitting around her in church.
Born in Eatonia, Saskatchewan on June 8, 1937, Shirley is predeceased by her parents, Philip and Alvina Wagner, husband Albert “Ab” Keller, and brothers, Elvin and Ron Wagner, and adopted brothers Vernie and Elmer Nunweiler.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Ernie) Wilgan, Jim (Sheri) Keller, and Mike (Sonja) Keller, as well as grand-children, Jamie (Danielle), Jesse (Nicala), Marie (Jeff), Kristine (Elijah), Lauren, and Michael (Brittany), and great-grandchildren William and Samuel. She also leaves behind many cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, devoted friends, and several pounds of frozen homemade cinnamon buns. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 am, at First Lutheran Church in Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund – Families in Need.
