We Remember
KENDAL, Ron W.
November 25, 1932 — September 4, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Ron Kendal, who passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, at the age of 91.
He now goes to join those who passed before him, including his beloved wife, Elizabeth; and four brothers, John, Keith, Norman, and Bradley.
Left to treasure his memory are his son, Kyle and his four-legged Corgi buddy, their dog, Kyffin; along with all whose lives he touched.
Ronald was a stubborn yet witty man, whose sharp humour and love for adventure made him unforgettable. He met and married his beloved wife, Elizabeth, in Winnipeg, and they spent 64 years together in Winnipeg, Edmonton and finally landing in the sunnny Okanagan with their final stop out in Okanagan Centre. They travelled a lot in their motorhome visiting friends and hitting the upper fishing lakes with Elizabeth out fishing while Ron enjoyed his suntanning and beer or wine on shore. His telescope was always nearby out on the sundeck, allowing him to patrol all the boats out on Okanagan Lake.
He worked a wide variety of jobs in his lifetime – oil patch trucker, cement truck driver in Edmonton, waiter at the Kelowna Yacht Club, weatherman for the Department of Transport at the Kelowna Airport, and finally a fireman at the Kelowna Airport where he worked until he retired. Ronald’s hard work reflected his strong character.
In his downtime, he was an avid hockey and football fan, never missing a Vancouver Canucks game on TV, and even though his favorite CFL team was the Winnipeg Blue Bombers he also cheered on the BC Lions. Later on his son Kyle got him hooked on the Seattle Seahawks. He loved taking his kayak down to the lake for long paddles. He was also happy pulling weeds in the yard.
Above all, Ronald treasured his family, and his loss will be deeply felt by everyone who knew him.
Family and friends will each honour Ronald in their own ways. No formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC SCPA.
