We Remember

KHUN KHUNA, Surjit Kaur
September 9, 1937 — February 5, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Surjit Kaur Khun Khuna passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on February 5, 2024.
Born to the late Dhana Singh & Karam Kaur Pajetta, Surjit leaves behind her husband, Mukhtiar Singh Khun Khuna, with whom she was with for over 61 years. She will also be dearly missed by her children and their partners: Sukhwinder Kaur (Gurmail Singh) Pooni, Ranjit Kaur (Jaswinder Singh) Madahar, Alamjit Singh (Jaspreet Kaur) Khun Khuna, Sarabjit Kaur (Gurdeep Singh) Pooni, Kamaljit Kaur (Resham Singh) Liddar, and Kulwinder Kaur (Buta Singh) Ghuman; as well as by her 7 grandsons and 6 granddaughters; and her 3 great-grandchildren.
Surjit was born in Begampur, India in 1937. She immigrated to Canada in the early 1990s with her husband, Mukhtiar Singh, and settled in the beautiful Okanagan.
Surjit was an extraordinary woman. She was humble, strong, and had a heart of gold. She was the most loving and caring individual, and will be greatly missed by all those impacted by her warmth and grace throughout her life.
She enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, and loved to talk on the phone so much that sometimes you’d even find her asleep with the phone still in her hand! But no matter how long you talked on the phone with her, she would still claim that it just wasn’t enough.
She devoted her life to her family and will always be remembered as a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed dearly by everyone.

I’m So sorry for your loss. Losing your mother is one of the hardest thing to go through. Not a day goes by with out thinking of them. I lost mine tragically at a young age and there’s not a day that goes when we don’t remember and wish she was with us. Your mum lived a beautiful blessed life and life to the fullest surrounded by her loving daughters and son it was very heartwarming and beautiful to see the love you all shared so cherish those memories.
