We Remember
KIROLY, Thomas Steve
October 25, 1961 — May 31, 2025
Finally running out of innings, tickets, and fishing line (though not without a good run at all three), Thomas Steve Kiroly (63) hung up his cap for the last time while he was at home in Lake Country, BC, surrounded by love and family.
Born on October 25, 1961, in Matsqui, BC, Tom was a man’s man, down-to-earth. The sort who always had a plan, a toolkit, and strong opinions about the Canucks’ defence. But behind the calluses and gruff charm was the biggest softy (though he’d never admit it) who quietly adored kids, doted on family, and always saved the best seat for Krissy, his beloved wife.
They met by fluke, Tom and Krissy (the best relationships often are serendipitous), and within two days, she knew they’d get married. Playing baseball together and bingo nights sealed the deal. A match made somewhere between heaven and the outfield. He always had to have a plan, and Krissy rarely did, but over time, they learned to compromise.
Tom enjoyed baseball, golf, and fishing (to Krissy’s enduring exasperation with him leaving on ANOTHER fishing trip!). An avid sports fan, Tom cheered for the Vancouver Canucks, the 49ers, and the Toronto Blue Jays, he even enjoyed, watching WWE wrestling.
Tom leaves behind Krissy; his four stepsons: Henry, Michael, John, and Gerry, who he claimed as his own in every way that mattered; his sisters, Liz Drake and Anne Tooke; and a spirited host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who’ll remember his deep laugh, quick wit, and slightly dangerous devotion to motorbikes.
There will be no formal service. Tom never liked a fuss. But memories, photos, and a few tall tales can be shared in condolences below.
