We Remember

KIRTLEY, Lillian Ann

March 16, 1949 — July 7, 2025

Lillian “Lil” Kirtley passed away on July 7, 2025, in Kelowna, BC. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Hazel Johnson, and her siblings, Judy (Len), Pat (Dorothy), Tim (Jody), David (Debbie), and Dianne (Peter).

Lil is survived by Wayne, her husband of 46 years; daughter Joann (Craig) Preissl; and grandsons Devin (Molly), Riley (Taylor), and Dayton (Hannah). The pure joy and love Lil had when her great-grandchildren arrived was something to behold. She was known as “GG” by Hunter and Cheyenne.  Lil is also survived by her mother-in-law, Bernice, and sister-in-law Wendy (Ross).

Diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) in June 2018, Lil never let it slow her down; her gradual decline in her ability to breathe and move only made her stronger.  She spent her last years travelling in the travel trailer to see all parts of Canada, including trips to Nova Scotia, Niagara Falls, Victoria, and all the places in between.

The time spent with her Saskatchewan family was her most precious time.  Her love for them was always front and centre. Lil’s many trips to the hospitals all across Canada with her COPD never stopped her from visiting family and living life to the fullest.  Her recent decline into palliative care, then to hospice, only indicated her “Never give up” attitude and her spirit of strength.

Loved by all, never forgotten.

Lil’s last wishes were for her ashes to be spread on the family farm in Saskatchewan.  There will be no service at this time.  Wayne and Joann will make arrangements to follow her wishes at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice House.
