We Remember
KISSER, Margarete
May 14, 1940 — August 31, 2026
Margarete Kisser went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning of August 31st, 2026. She was born in Neukirchen, Germany, on May 14, 1940, and was the youngest of eight children. When she was 13 years old, she moved to Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, with her mother, sister, and three brothers. Margarete professed her faith in the Lord at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Sudbury, Ontario, on April 10th, 1955.
Later, Margarete moved with her mother to Kelowna, British Columbia, where, in 1971, she met and married her husband, Helmut Kisser. Together the newlyweds moved to Valleyview, Alberta, where Helmut had a farm and three children from a previous marriage. While living in Valleyview, Alberta, they were blessed with four more children. In 1979, Helmut and Margarete sold the farm and moved back to Kelowna, British Columbia, to raise their four young children.
Margarete is survived by her children: Walter Kisser (Claudia), Manfred Kisser, Ruth Cochrane (Ron), Rosie Stuart (Brad); stepchildren: Heidi Raboud, Dennis Kisser (Linda), Cheril Walper; 8 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Berta Neumann; 6 brothers: Walter, Werner, Kurt, Ernest, Heinz, and Siegfried; sister, Hildegard; and husband of almost 50 years, Helmut.
Margarete was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and daughter. She loved her family very much and was always there for them. Her face would light up whenever she saw her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Rest peacefully.
Auf Wiedersehen, until we see you again.
Margarete’s family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Cottonwoods long-term care Driftwood Unit for taking such good care of her for the past four years and especially for helping her pass away peacefully and pain-free. You are all amazing!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC SPCA.
Interment will take place after the service at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna.

Walter, Manfred, Ruth, Rosie and your families, my heart goes out to each of you. Even though I can’t be there with you today, I know it is very hard losing your mother, I am thinking and praying for you. Our blended family shared many memories and laughs over the years in Valleyview, Kelowna as well as our home in Sherwood Park. She will now rest in peace with the family that has gone before her!
All the best, your sister 💖
Heidi
I still have childhood memories of Tante Margarete’s smile and joy when visiting with my parents and siblings. I take comfort in knowing she’s with Jesus.
My heart goes out to you. Sending healing prayers during this difficult time. I will always cherish the many fond memories I have of Tante Margaret and Onkel Helmut.
