We Remember
KLATT, Heather Laurie
June 16, 1955 — April 30, 2024
We announce the passing of Heather Laurie Klatt, who died at the age of 68 on April 30, 2024, in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Heather’s life began on a farm located at Strasbourg, SK. near the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley. She was passionate about big skies and rural living; but education called her away to universities in Regina, Vancouver, and Chicago. Her first employment was as a nurse; then as a special needs facilitator (Yorkton, SK. and Edmonton, AB.), a diabetes educator (Moose Jaw, SK. and the Kootenays, BC.), home care discharge planner (Lethbridge, AB. and Blood Reserve); and from 2015, up until the diagnosis of her lung cancer she coordinated the LPN program for Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, Merritt, BC. Her zest for life took her on many global adventures.
Heather is predeceased by her parents Waldie and Flora Klatt; and her three children Aryan Dominique, Muirgwn Leah and Alys Sheridan who died at birth. She leaves to mourn her passing, her brother, Vernon Klatt; nephews Brennan (Meaghan) and Emerson (Erin); as well as numerous cousins and friends.
She wishes to thank all those who walked with her on this journey. Heather was especially grateful to her long-time companion, Ellis O’Brien, for fun times shared in an 18-wheeler, on the back of his motorcycle and on camping trips.
Heather is personally connected and supports an amazing Kenyan family with their education. Anyone wishing to make donations, please send funds to:

Heather was always on board with our group get togethers, whether it was a walk in the park, going to the movies, ice skating on Wascana lake or a picnic. Those were especially special times. What a glad.
I’m so sorry to hear of Heather’s passing. I have often wondered where she was and what she was doing. Some of my happiest memories were spend overnights on the farm.
Condolences to all who knew and loved her. A lot of school memories. May she rest in peace.
I am sorry to hear of Heathers passing, I worked with Heather at the MJUH Patient Education Center she was so kind and patient with the many clients she helped. Condolences to her family and friends.
My condolences to the family and friends of Heather. I worked with Heather in Moose Jaw several years ago. She was always very dedicated to her patients and work.
I was heart broken to hear of Heather’s passing. She was a free spirit. I have so many good memories of Heather when we were growing up. Vernon we are sending our prayers to you and your family.
Sending my deepest sympathy to Heather’s family and to Ellis. I was a neighbour and became a friend of Heather’s here at the Dorchester. I enjoyed hearing her nursing and teaching stories about helping the deaf, and teaching nursing students. And I admire how she cared and helped her “adopted”family” in Africa. She really made a big beneficial difference in the variety of work she did. It was an honour to get to know her and have her as a friend. I am very sad for your loss and I miss her a lot, too.
With Love and Sympathy , Nancy Wageman
