We Remember
KOMISAR, Nick
September 23, 1937 — June 9, 2021
Nick passed away peacefully on June 9, 2021, at the age of 83. Nick was born in Rycroft, Alberta, and he was raised in High Prairie, Alberta on the family farm.
Nick was appointed to his Postmaster position at age 23, by the Right Honorable John Diefenbaker, making him the youngest appointed Postmaster in Canada.
Nick and his wife Sheila settled in Ponoka, Alberta, where they lived until retirement in 1994. They moved to the Okanagan in Spring 1995. They built a home in Enderby, finally settling in Lake Country, where Sheila resides today.
Nick was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Komisar; his son Barry; and two brothers, Alex and Bill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sheila; two daughters Barb (Steve) and Brenda (Randy); two granddaughters Nicole and Jorden; and two step-grandchildren Sydney and Cooper.
Nick was a very friendly guy. He would talk to anyone, and would always have a joke at hand. He was quick to help out family and friends whenever they needed. He was also usually the first choice to MC an event or wedding.
Due to the current pandemic, no formal service will be held. Family and friends will honour them each in their own way.
